SERVPRO Professionals are highly trained and have the resources necessary for cleaning smoke and fire damage inside homes and businesses. Not every smoke damage is the same. SERVPRO determines the best cleaning method to use based on the type of smoke that was produced during the fire. The type of smoke residue is determined by the origin of the fire, and what was burned during the fire. There are 4 main types of Smoke Residue:
Wet Smoke (Plastic & Rubber): Low heat, smoldering pungent Odor, stick, smeary, and smoke webs. This type of smoke is difficult to clean. If not cleaned properly more damage could be created.
Dry Smoke (Paper & Wood): Fast burning, high temperatures, hear rises therefore smoke rises.
Protein Smoke: This is produced by evaporation of material rather than fire. This is basically invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor. Commonly seen with cooking fires.
Fuel Oil Smoke (Furnace Puff backs): Caused by burning oil, and oil-based substances. This smoke can damage furniture and flooring if not taken care of quickly.
Other Types: SERVPRO specializes in all types of cleanup including Fire Extinguisher dust and finger printing powder.
